The explanation of the water quality parameters for non-specialists and the common public is not easily understandable. IWQI proved to be an easy way to provide citizens and policymakers with information on water quality.
IWQI uses data on water quality and helps modify the environmental policies designed by environmental agencies.
Indicators can compare sites and track changes at one site over time.
Panel members were polled by mail using questionnaires.
A developed water quality index also depends on the Delphi method and the questionnaire was sent to panel members using a Google form, where the selection of parameters included in our model was subjected to local and international opinions of experts in the aquatic environment to determine the importance of each parameter in IWQI and for each water uses. The primary aim of water quality indices is to give a single value for water quality by converting the data on the components and their concentrations in a sample into a unique number, so comparing different samples for their quality will be easy based on each sample's index value.
